Dr. Dhara Patel is a certified and residency-trained optometrist who specializes in comprehensive and medical eye care, including the diagnosis and management of diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and anterior segment disorders.
Dr. Patel grew up in Elberton, Georgia, and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Georgia in 2013. After graduating, she attended Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry located in Fort Lauderdale, FL for her optometric education. At NSUCO, she was an active member of the American Optometric Student Association, National Optometric Student Association, and Student Association of Ocular Disease. Her training at NSUCO allowed her to provide optimal education of preventative care to the under-privileged communities of South Florida.
After graduating in 2019, Dr. Patel pursued a residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at VA Boston Healthcare System in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. This opportunity also involved care for patients at tertiary care centers and other Boston hospitals such as Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. There she gained extensive exposure to complicated ocular disease and pathology, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma. She is also well-trained in neuro-ophthalmology, low vision, and polytrauma/eye emergency services.
Dr. Patel is very excited to be back in her home state to continue her career! She strives to promote the highest quality ocular health services using up-to-date evidence-based medicine. Her caring personality allows her to build long-lasting and meaningful patient-doctor relationships in the foundation of open communication, mutual respect, and honesty. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and enjoying time with family and friends.
