Dr. Jason Ro is a board-certified optometrist who specializes in medical and comprehensive eye care of the eye, including the diagnosis and management of diabetic eye disease, dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and co-management of ocular surgeries, among other anterior/posterior segment conditions of the eye.

Dr. Ro grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Georgia in 2016. He then earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Ohio State College of Optometry in 2020. During his tenure at Ohio State, Dr. Ro was an active member of the American Optometric Student Association, National Optometric Student Association, Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, and Epsilon Psi Epsilon Fraternity. Throughout his externships, he was able to gain extensive medical eye knowledge at the Ohio State Havener Eye Institute, Erdey Searcy Eye Group, and the New Orleans Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

After graduating from optometry school in 2020, Dr. Ro pursued and completed a residency in Ocular Disease under the tutelage of Dr. Richard Erdey, a well-known ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea and refractive surgeries, at Erdey Searcy Eye Group in Columbus, OH. He also had the privilege to train under other ophthalmologists who specialize in glaucoma and retina. During his time at residency, Dr. Ro learned to manage and treat several eye diseases and comanage them with other physicians for continuity of care. After completing his residency, Dr. Ro continued to work at Erdey Searcy Eye Group part-time as a staff optometrist and continued to manage patients while training other residents and student externs.

Dr. Ro ultimately decided to move back home and he is very excited to practice near his hometown where he may be able to serve back to the same community he grew up in. He hopes to form lasting relationships with the patients he treats while providing excellent care, understanding, and communication about the importance of eye health and preventative eye care using the latest advances in healthcare and treatment strategies. Dr. Ro is also a member of the American Optometric Association and Georgia Optometric Association.

In Dr. Ro’s spare time, he enjoys spending time and trying out new food with his wife, Stephanie, and spending time with their pet husky, Tundra. He also plays the bass guitar and serves as a music director at his local church.
