Dr. Calvin Sims is a licensed optometrist dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered eye care. Dr. Sims is experienced in managing a wide range of visual and ocular health needs, including routine eye examinations, diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases in both anterior and posterior segments of the eye, and pre- and post-operative care.

Dr. Sims is a native of Birmingham, AL, where he also received his primary and majority of his secondary education. First, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB). He later returned to complete his Doctorate of Optometry at the UAB School of Optometry in 2014. In addition, he received a Master of Business Administration degree from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

As a part of Dr. Sims’ training, he completed various rotations throughout Alabama and in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, receiving clinical training with an emphasis on primary eye care, contact lenses, and ocular disease. As a certified optometrist, he has worked in various optometric settings in the state of Alabama and in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, where he has learned the value of clear communication, trust, and individualized care to best meet patient needs. Last, Dr. Sims also worked in clinical research in cancer therapy sectors, where he proudly provided expertise in treatment-related ocular side effects.

Dr. Sims remains actively engaged in continuing education to stay current with advances in optometric technology and clinical care. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, engaging in community service projects, attending sporting events, and traveling. His diverse interests allow him to build meaningful connections both professionally and personally.
