Dr. Sagar Patel is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in advanced cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and cosmetic and reconstructive oculoplastic procedures involving the eyelids, orbit, face, and lacrimal system. A native of Metro Atlanta, Dr. Patel graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami, where he earned numerous honors and was inducted into the prestigious Iron Arrow and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. He then attended the Medical College of Georgia, graduating at the top of his class with multiple distinctions, including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha, Phi Kappa Phi, and Gold Humanism honor societies.
Dr. Patel completed his internship at Carolinas Medical Center before pursuing rigorous ophthalmology residency training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers. He was subsequently selected for a highly competitive fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital Reconstructive Surgery at the same institution.

The staff was wonderful, efficient, and professional. Easy process from start to finish, everything explained in great detail, which makes the experience less intimidating. The facilities were very clean. Surgery went well, not a lot of waiting around, which was so great, as I was very nervous. My husband had eye surgery there and they were great! They put him at ease and were very informative about the procedure right down to explaining the insurance part. So, when I needed a second opinion I naturally went to them. Their exams were thorough and were given by a very efficient and kind individual. After struggling with a first failed cataract surgery for months my daughter secured an eye appointment with Dr. Patel at Milan Eye Center in Buford.
I had the worse of the two types of cataracts and as a result the occular lens slipped off my eye refusing to stay put.
Upon arriving for the first time we were impressed with the beautiful entryway, spacious lobby and reception area. Holly the receptionist was attentive friendly kind and helpful making us feel supported and valued. She answered all of our questions and pointed out other things we needed to know.
We were greeted and helped by several staff members who took us to different examination rooms with high tech instruments recording eye measurements & eye pressure.
After being prepped we finally got to see Dr. Patel who spent quality time with us answering our questions and explaining how he would go about retrieving the lens lodged to the side behind my eye.
The tricky part was getting to the lens and the way it had dropped to the side and back of my eye which made things very difficult and challenging.
If Dr Patel couldn’t successfully retrieve the lens he would have to refer me to an eye specialist.
I went into MIGHTY PRAYER covering my entire procedure and Dr. Patel, placing Angels around him guiding his hands, expecting a good outcome and hoping I wouldn’t need the specialist. I felt confident Dr. Patel would come through.
Sure enough and THANK YOU FATHER GOD! My prayers were answered when Dr. Patel successfully retrieved the lens and secured it to my left eye by sewing it down. Let me repeat that: Dr. Patel SEWED THE LENS to my eyeball. Is that truly AMAZING or what?
Can anybody say PRAISE GOD? Thanks to the Lord’s goodness and Dr. Patel’s skillful expertise I had the good fortune to experience great results!
