At Milan Eye Center, the safety and welfare of our patients, team members, and community remains our top priority amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. As we carefully open back up, it will look a bit different around our offices, but we want to assure you, as our patient we are here to take care of and protect you from the risks of COVID-19.
Just as a house requires a strong foundation, we want to ensure all patients are safe and comfortable from the moment they call to make an appointment. Milan Eye Center has implemented the following safety protocols and procedures as we begin to reopen our clinics and surgery centers for patient care. (These guidelines were developed in accordance with Georgia state orders, the Center for Disease Control, and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines.)
A member of our customer care team will confirm and conduct a pre-screening questionnaire to assess any risk factors or answer questions you may have prior to stepping foot into our facilities. All patients will then receive detailed information via text and email where they can complete all necessary forms and paperwork to participate in our new virtual check-in process. This will help to reduce the time spent waiting inside the clinic and abide by all social distancing guidelines.
Upon arrival, we will require all patients to wear a cloth face covering or mask throughout their entire appointment. Everyone will have their temperature checked and history will be taken to ensure no one has experienced any symptoms of COVID-19. In order to maintain social distancing, the chairs in our waiting area will be spaced at least six feet apart and throughout the visit, isolation and social distancing protocols will be upheld. We have also added protective guards and germ shields throughout our clinic within check-in areas and exam rooms to better protect against the transmission of germs.
Our staff and providers will undergo a self-assessment and have their temperatures checked daily upon entering the clinic or surgery center and will wear KN95 masks and additional personal protective equipment to further protect themselves and others.
Designated team members will help clean and disinfect all high trafficked areas several times throughout each day to ensure sanitation guidelines are upheld.Examination and treatment rooms, equipment, and surfaces will also be cleaned with germicidal or disinfectant wipes before and after each patient is seen.
Our air conditioning systems will have advanced technology purification products to help treat the air as it passes through to help kill any possible microbes and viruses. GreenTech Environmental’s proprietary photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) technology generates powerful oxidizers that deactivate and kill microbes, such as bacteria and viruses, and render contaminants harmless. This will allow for continuous sanitization of the air and disinfection of surfaces in our clinics and surgery centers in a safe manner.
To add even more protection, we have installed individual air purifiers in all waiting areas, exam rooms, and surgery centers. The IQ Air purification system is the only Hyper High-efficiency Particulate Air or HyperHEPA filtration system to remove ultrafine particles down to 0.003 microns in size with 99.5% efficiency.
This is 100 times smaller than what is achieved with ordinary HEPA purifiers. More importantly, the IQ Air filtration system traps particles 10x smaller than a virus, including the coronavirus. Produced by Swiss engineers, each certified unit uses mechanical filtration to capture pollutants and microbes and clean the air without any harmful byproducts.
As we gradually open our in-person services, our providers will continue to offer virtual telemedicine visits for non-vision threatening conditions and will conduct online patient webinars to better help educate and prepare patients prior to their appointment.
The world may be opening and changing but our commitment to your vision remains the same. We want our environment to be as safe and healthy as possible as we care about you and your eyes and will be here to serve you once you are ready!
