In Summer, hunger does not take a vacation. There are many children in our community who don’t know where their next meal will come from. Throughout the school year, many children in our area participate in programs that provide them with breakfast and lunch at a reduced or no cost. But what happens during summer break?
Food pantries face their greatest need for donations during the summertime. Families with children who had been receiving assistance at school need to find a way to replace those meals during summer break – so they turn to their local food pantry.
For the entire month of June, Milan Eye Center will be collecting summer food needs to support The Place of Forsyth and Dawson counties to continue its mission of helping our community children and their hardworking families that have fallen on hard times. Just look for the bright yellow box in each of our clinics now through June 30.
When you donate to the food bank at The Place, you give more than just food. You give hope.
