The boomer population is growing and the presbyopes today view life differently than previous generations. They are more active, living longer, working longer, and more concerned about aging. Because of this, cataract surgery has also changed. It has become a refractive procedure as our patients are expecting more, and we now have the opportunity to meet their expectations. Because of these changes, it is imperative that the optometrist become an integral part of the surgical journey both pre and post-operatively. This course will go through the presbyopic mindset, how to work closely with the surgical center, the importance of treating the ocular surface, helping determine the appropriate lens for the individual patient, and what to expect post-operatively.
