Dr. Brittany Moates is a certified and residency-trained optometrist who specializes in comprehensive and medical eye care, including the diagnosis and management of diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and anterior segment disorders.

A native of Americus, Georgia, Dr. Moates earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University in 2014, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Honors College. After graduating, she began her optometric education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. At UAB, Dr. Moates was inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa, an optometric honor society. She was also an active member of the American Optometric Student Association and Fellowship of Christian Optometrists.

While at UAB, Dr. Moates enjoyed providing eye care to underserved communities around Birmingham. After graduating in 2018, Dr. Moates pursued a residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina. There, she gained extensive exposure to pathology, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. She was also trained in low vision, polytrauma, specialty contact lenses, and dry eye.

Dr. Moates is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association. She is happy to be back in her home state! She enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, traveling, and watching Auburn football.
